LinuxShield: Continuing the Legacy of CSF (ConfigServer Security & Firewall)
For years, ConfigServer Security & Firewall (CSF) has been one of the most popular and reliable firewall solutions for Linux servers. Trusted by thousands of administrators and hosting providers, it combined the power of iptables/nftables with proactive security features such as login failure detection, connection tracking, and process monitoring.
Unfortunately, CSF has recently been discontinued and will no longer receive updates or active maintenance. This leaves many Linux server administrators searching for a secure and dependable alternative.
Introducing LinuxShield
Out of this need, LinuxShield.net was created β a direct fork of CSF designed to continue its development and keep the community supported.
Our goal is simple:
-
Preserve the strong foundation of CSF.
-
Provide ongoing updates and improvements to ensure compatibility with modern Linux distributions.
-
Maintain full support for existing CSF users, making migration as seamless as possible.
-
Build a community around LinuxShield where administrators, developers, and hosting providers can share knowledge and contribute.
Why LinuxShield?
LinuxShield is more than just a continuation β itβs a commitment. By forking CSF, we ensure that the features system administrators rely on will not be lost.
-
π Firewall Management β Simple yet powerful configuration for inbound and outbound traffic.
-
π¨ Intrusion Protection β Automatic blocking of brute-force login attempts and suspicious activity.
-
π Monitoring & Alerts β Real-time notifications for processes, logins, and system events.
-
π Control Panel Integration β Seamless support for popular panels like cPanel, DirectAdmin, and Webmin.
-
β‘ Active Development β Unlike CSF, LinuxShield will continue to evolve with the Linux ecosystem.
Moving Forward Together
We understand that the end of CSF created uncertainty for many administrators. With LinuxShield, you donβt need to worry about losing a tool youβve trusted for years.
By continuing where CSF left off, we aim to provide a modern, community-driven security solution that keeps Linux servers safe, stable, and easy to manage.
